We informally entertained looking at a few lots over the last few years. In August 2010, we got more serious about building a home. We took several car trips through area subdivisions and spent a great deal of time in Glade Springs Resort. In the end, we decided we are and will remain too busy with activities in town for Glade Springs living to work.
We had always liked the beauty and neighborhood feel of the Brier Patch subdivision. Ironically, Lot 48 had been for sale a few times we had visited family friends in the neighborhood. We purchased the lot in November 2010.
The lot is on Yorktown Court and overlooks the 13th green of the Brier Patch Golf Course. So errant golf balls are a concern. Perhaps we will have to put up a net to protect windows. We will have a prime location for a summer lemonade sale. The lot has no trees, which is much different then our current home that has over 17 trees. So the fall leaf pick up in the yard will go much easier.
As a stormwater manager, I am also happy that the lot does not receive much offsite drainage, which will make handling drainage much easier as we build.
